The setting, of course, is the Punktown universe created by Jeffrey Thomas, first debuted in print in 2000 and since detailed in a dozen books and at least one comic. Naturally, that's not going to be an impediment to the target audience, especially with Chaosium's freely downloadable CoC and BRP quickstart rules. The text declares that it's compatible with the Basic Roleplaying and Call ofĬthulhu (Sixth Edition) games, and that you'll need at least one of these to play Punktown. Punktown is very much a sourcebook and setting book rather than a full game in itself. Now to see what we've all been waiting for. The PDF version is already available for download, with purchasers offered a voucher for the print version, once that goes live and the original Kickstarter backers have been given theirs. As a July 2018 status report from Chaosium, the licensor, declares, " Punktown was launched on Kickstarter way back in November 2012." In the course of time, Punktown fell foul of the demise of Miskatonic River Press, and has now been taken up by Chronicle City, "the new games company of Angus Abranson, founder of Cubicle 7." Finally, Punktown has arrived in all its glory. Punktown: A Setting Book for Call of Cthulhu and Basic Roleplaying is one of those games that has languished in development hell for an interminable amount of time.
